My Story

​Kirk Johnson is an 11-year Canadian military veteran who was diagnosed with PTSD following a deployment to Afghanistan in 2010. After leaving the forces, his healing journey led him into the world of yoga and meditation where he discovered powerful tools for reconnecting with the body and calming the mind. This past June and July, Kirk deepened his connection to the practice by living at an ashram, where he completed trauma-aware yoga teacher training. Rooted in compassion and choice, his trauma-informed approach, based too on his lived experience, offers accessible options inviting students to move at their own pace and in ways that feel right for them. Kirk’s classes are not about performance or perfect poses; they’re about meeting yourself with honesty, softness, and courage in a welcoming, supportive space that emphasizes safety, choice, and connection.
